1. The First Golden Slipper Stakes (1957)

The Golden Slipper Stakes, now the world’s richest race for two-year-olds, had its first running at Rosehill in 1957. The race was the vision of racing administrator George Ryder, aiming to create an event that would shape the future of Australian breeding. The inaugural winner was Todman, a champion who went on to become one of Australia’s greatest sires. The Slipper has since produced legends like Luskin Star, Pierro, and Dance Hero.

2. Winx’s Fourth Consecutive George Ryder Stakes Win (2019)

The mighty Winx, one of the greatest racehorses ever, made history at Rosehill in 2019 by winning the George Ryder Stakes (1500m) for the fourth time in a row. This was part of her legendary 33-race winning streak. Her dominance in this race highlighted her incredible ability to defeat top-class opposition year after year. It was one of the final steps in her farewell tour before retiring undefeated in her last 33 races.

3. Kingston Town’s 1980 Hatrick in the Rosehill Guineas

In 1980, the champion Kingston Town won the Rosehill Guineas in devastating fashion as part of a three-race streak leading into his first Cox Plate win. Kingston Town would go on to win three consecutive Cox Plates (1980-82), an achievement that stood unmatched until Winx won four. His Rosehill dominance helped solidify his reputation as one of Australia’s greatest racehorses.
