2025 State of Origin Series Recap
The 44th annual State of Origin Series, showcased a classic tale of redemption and rapture, and was won by the Queensland Maroons.
Game I commenced the series on May 28th in Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium. New South Wales started off with a significant lead and upheld this momentum until full time.
The second instalment of the series, Game II, exhibited Queensland dominating the first half significantly enough to win the game with no points acquired in the second on June 18th. However, New South Wales still had a riveting game with some of the best skill display, such as Brain To’o scoring multiple tries. Notably, this game was also a mirror to the humanity of the players, as To’o had paid tribute to Queensland’s Cameron Munster’s late father on his arm band.
In the tie-breaking heat of Game III, Accor Stadium witnessed the Maroons secure their 25th series title on July 9th 2025. Tom Dearden earned Player of the Match and the Wally Lewis Medal after scoring 2 of the Maroon's 4 tries. Overall, both teams had equal possession of the ball this game, but the Maroons featured more accurate shots. Thus, they won the game and the 2025 State of Origin Series.
