Scheduled annually in late September, it serves as a key event for emerging stars, offering crucial exposure and a significant challenge ahead of major races like the Melbourne Cup. With a prize pool of $1 million, the Golden Rose is also the second leg of the newly established Golden Slam series in the Sydney Spring Carnival. This series offers a $5 million bonus to any horse that wins the Golden Slipper, the Golden Rose, and the Golden Eagle in consecutive years. The race is open to horses nominated from the previous season’s Golden Slipper and those paying a late entry fee.
