About Racing Futures Betting at Bet Right

Racing futures let you back a runner well before the final field is declared - sometimes months out from the jump. At Bet Right you'll find futures markets on Australia's biggest thoroughbred races, including the Melbourne Cup, Cox Plate, Caulfield Cup, The Everest, Doomben 10000, Stradbroke Handicap and Queensland Derby, plus overseas features at Royal Ascot and Epsom, and the Interdom Pace and Trot finals for the harness lovers.

You'll see two types of markets on this page. All In markets are exactly that — your stake stays live whether your runner makes the final field or not, which is why the prices are usually bigger. Pre-Noms markets are available in advance of when official nominations close. Runners in the markets are based on the assumption that the runner is a chance to contest the race.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a racing futures bet?

A racing futures bet is a wager placed in advance of a major race meeting, often weeks or months before the event. It lets you lock in early fixed odds on runners you think will win features like the Golden Slipper, the Victoria Derby or The Quokka.

What does "All In" mean in horse racing?

All In betting means your bet stands regardless of whether your selected runner ultimately starts in the race. If your horse is scratched, withdrawn or doesn't make the final field, your stake is lost. The trade-off is that All In markets typically offer bigger odds than markets closer to race day.

What does "Pre-Noms" mean?

Pre-Noms (Pre-Nominations) markets are offered before official nominations are taken.

Pre-nom markets are refunded should your selection not nominate for the race. Pre-nom markets are usually offered first, then All In and then Final Field.

Do I get a refund if my horse is scratched in a futures market?

On Bet Right Pre-nom markets, scratchings are not refunded unless the selected runner doesn’t nominate.

On Bet Right’s All In markets, scratchings are not refunded - that's the nature of futures betting and it's why the early prices are bigger.

Once a race goes to final field fixed odds, standard scratching rules apply.

Are deductions applied to futures bets?

No.

When do futures markets close?

Each market will suspend at various stages of the acceptance and nomination process and then be reopened accordingly as Pre-noms, All In or Final Field

What futures markets does Bet Right offer?
